Nature VS Nurturing while developing leader

If we ask “Nature VS Nurture” which one is more important in developing a leadership voyage, it just like asking which one is more important between the root and the trunk of the tree? Success and Happiness in becoming a great leader needs both the innate drive and skill in turning the unseen leadership potential into valuable outcome.
The Innate drive is the power of the natural gift or the DNA of the leader that creates passion in loving what you do. But with the right nurturing process, it will help crystallize the right valuable skill. The alignment between nature and nurture is just like attuning heart and heart in the same direction. Many leading organization that I am their leadership development consultant believe that “Put the right man to the right job is not enough. “Put the right man with the right heart and the right skill to the right” is the new leadership paradigm in developing both successful and happiness in what ever they do. C-Crystallize Innate Drive.
Many times we let the environment creates our own destiny but forget to stop and listen to the voice of our innate drive which is the seed of the passion in life. If our seed is the lotus seed it should grow in water not dessert. If the outside environment doesn’t match with innate drive, it will be obstacle for empowering the unseen leadership potential.
O-Opportunity Given.
The right opportunity that matches with the right innate drive will be the key to empower the maturity development process. My leadership consultant experience with the talent pool of leading I/T company which used to focus on the product- oriented, the Chairman would like to create new opportunity in services-oriented. Our team used Multi-Dimension Intelligence profile assessment (MIP) in discovering service preferences in 7 of his top team innate drives. Only one of them has the most preferences in service. When Chairman and CEO saw the unseen leadership potential, they gave the golden opportunity to this senior management. In 3 years, he turns his services team into a star and grows business for more than 200%. This chairman said “Golden opportunity with the right heart and head will crate the real hero”
A-Architect Priority Skills The right opportunity without the right skill can be only a dream maker. The priority architecture of the right skill is the investment that needs fully customize to their innate drive and preferences. Many organizations trains a lot but can’t get much out of their investment due to lack of priority focus to the leader innate drive and preferences.
C-Cultivate the right environment. Structure, system, incentives and mentoring are the critical factors to support growth. Each individual leader has their own rhythm of their metamorphosis. Just like we can’t shorten pregnancy period from 9 months to 4.5 month by having two mothers. The maturity of growing process has their own life cycle.
